LAWRIDE
The UKCOPS memorial Weekend
England XIV members will be taking part

THIS MONTH!

JULY 2008

July – Do you wonder where summer is? I have been waiting for the blue skies, yellow spot in the sky and warm warm weather. What do we get? Lovely weather followed shortly by cool temperatures and rain! Oh well, its still good to be out on the bike, even though I am riding solo for a while. My rear gunner, Tina has had a neck operation and is recovering but cannot ride. Oh my goodness, I didn't realise how much she loved it until now! Still, she is recovering, so we can hope.

What has happened in the last month? THE KART RALLY, that's what! I know that I was one of the organisers, but after all the hard work and planning ... not to mention the worry, it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves. It was our plan to make it an enjoyable and fun event. One for all to leave very happy and wanting to come back. Judging by the emails, that seemed to work. THANK YOU all who came along and immersed yourselves in the weekend. My personal thanks must go to Muddy - as Treasurer and Secretary, he work tirelessly for the cause and even had time to lead the ride out AND do the Poker Run. Thanks mate! Our Chapter editor, Pat has put together a terrific report on the event and I have added a very full photo gallery. Why not go to the Reports page and have a read or follow the link Here .

My thanks must also go to UKCOPS who asked Amanda Keylock to come for the weekend. Amanda is a survivor herself and although a stranger when she walked through the door, she left a very good friend and a prospective member. She took up the challenge t try riding as pillion and very bravely went pillion with me. We had a great talk around the route and enjoyed the views together. You were great company and I look forward to see you more at our events .. when you can. Amanda will be joining us at Lawride - donning a crash helmet again. Was it the Somerset Cider I wonder?

Straight after the KART Rally was the BMW Show South West at the Royal Bath and West Showground at Shepton Mallet in Somerset. This was the first time that the BMF show has come to the South West so we felt it only right to represent the Blue Knights UKIC at the event. Little did I realise that we would have drama as well as pleasure! Again, we have a report with a gallery of photo's which can be viewed on the Reports page or follow the link Here.

Then our Ride-Out was led by Pat Sturman, a Devon Cream Tea run! Yes, that's three biking weekends out of three - how much better can it get! Because of Tina's recovery I took the car and enjoyed our own 'bimble' around Dartmoor but we arrived at Badger Holt, Dartmeet in plenty of time to meet the Chapter riders arriving. Then we enjoyed a full Badger Holt cream tea joined by the chickens and peacocks! Pat has written a full report with, yes you've guessed it, plenty of photo's Here. Sorry you weren't able to make it Reg and sorry about the bike failure Pete. Hope you both manage to get them fixed.

The next event is our Brunch meeting at the Raleghs Cross Inn on Exmoor. This is a great location with excellent food. Why not join us? Check out the Events page for more information.

Then it is the big one - LAWRIDW 2008. Members of the Chapter will be riding up to Leicester on the 19th to participate in a charity evening and Service of Remembrance. We will then ride to Stafford RPU HQ on the 20th meeting up with Amanda who will join us for Lawride back to the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas near Lichfield. there we will take part in the Service of Remembrance before meeting up with friends and then riding home again. We are praying for really sunny weather after last years flooding! We will be doing a full write up afterwards, as last year, so if you can't make it, watch out for the Report.

And finally ........

Ride with Pride!

Chapter President
