3rd July 2011

The show was based in the beautiful grounds of Taunton School and was in aid of the charity Go Commando, for the benefit of the families of 40 Commando based at nearby Norton Fitzwarren.
Attendees on the day were Pete and Kath, Glynn and Ruth with George, Simon and Claire, Kev (4X) and Sue, Muddy and Lesley, Shane and Sher, John Cooke, Alan George, Matt Townrow, Dave Hardaway, Kev Ridgers. Tina Cooke and son Declan with partner Laura and daughter Neave also visited during the day. This was a great member turn out to assist with the stand. It also gave us a great array of mechanical hardware to display, especially with John’s Pan and Alans Kawasaki in front of the stand.
The first trial on arrival was the erection of the newly purchased Gazebo, a big 6m x 3m blue and white covered Tent, the photo of which is in the gallery. It was certainly needed, the weather was a scorcher.
This gave the Chapter display a sense of professionalism and enhanced the chapter profile. With the display boards set up in the rear and a table for leaflets and COPS badges to be purchased, a successful day was had, with the possibility of two new members.
Many members of the public visited the stand, and were kept engrossed by Simon, until they were willing to give up their money and purchased a COPS badge.
Interviews with 10Radio and Radio Somerset were given during the day, as well as an Interview with The Great Escape 3 on the radio as well. Fitting for this as a donation was presented to these riders by Kevin Adamson, for a sum in excess of £100 which he had raised by blagging the teachers and staff at the school where he works. Well done Kevin.
There was a good array of drinks and food provided by several members/ wives and nobody was able to go hungry or thirsty. Boredom was not possible as there was a good range of events, from vintage cars to new cars, new Royal Enfield motorcycles, displays by 40 Commando, a large Art and Craft marquee where several chapter ladies got lost for a considerable time. Oh yes, and a greasy spoon catering trailer with all the men’s favourite foods.
If you didn’t attend this year, then pencil it in for next, they were so pleased that we have been invited back for next year.
